“Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.”
1 Peter 4:7

Scripture tells us prayer requires a particular kind of self- discipline and focus. Here are a few simple things you can do to eliminate distraction and create space to pray for the next 21 days:

  • SET AN APPOINTMENT WITH GOD: Put it on your calendar. Choose a time and place where you can be free from distraction. Then keep your appointment. We call this “chair time”.
  • BE READY: Have pen and paper or a note-taking device with you. Jot down what you feel like God is saying to you each day.
  • REMEMBER: Take a moment of quiet to remember and reflect on the good things God has done for you.
  • REPENT: Examine yourself. Ask God to forgive you of any sin you find in your heart.
  • READ: Finally, read the daily prayer point and scripture.  It may help you to look the scripture up in your own Bible.  Give time to meditate on what God is speaking through His Word.

DAILY PRAYER POINTS

JUNE 1 – FAITHFUL GOD

We begin by acknowledging who God is. Praise God for His faithfulness in our lives and His power to save all who come to Him. Thank Him for being Immanuel-the God who has come to us- and for the privilege of partnering with Him in prayer.

Hebrews 7:25, “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”

JUNE 2 – CLEAN HEARTS

We ask God to make our hearts clean before Him.  We give the Holy Spirit time to search our hearts and convict us of thoughts, emotions, words, and actions that interfere with His work within our lives.

Psalm 139:23-24, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”

JUNE 3 – FORGIVE OTHERS

We ask God to search our hearts concerning our relationships.  Ask for the ability to forgive those who have offended you.  Just as God has forgiven you, through the help of the Holy Spirit, we can forgive those we have resented.

Mark 11:25, “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”

JUNE 4 – DEPENDING ON THE SPIRIT

We confess our need for the Holy Spirit.  We acknowledge our limitations and our dependence upon the enabling power of the Holy Spirit in order to pray effectively.

Romans 8:26. “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

JUNE 5 – PRIDE AND PREJUDICE

We ask the Spirit of God to search out and reveal our own prideful and prejudiced desires, imaginations, and opinions.  We acknowledge that our viewpoints are limited and flawed at times.  We repent and ask the Lord to show us people from His position.

Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding…”

JUNE 6 – WAITING

We wait and listen to the Lord to speak and direct us.  We repent for allowing emotions to cloud our judgement, being too quick to speak, and reacting impulsively.  We ask the Spirit of God to help us in learning to wait before God and listen for His direction.

Psalm 81:11-13, “But no, my people wouldn’t listen. Israel did not want me around.  So I let them follow their own stubborn desires, living according to their own ideas. Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths!”

JUNE 7 – REVIVE US

Ask the Lord to revive our hearts to His love and His purposes.  We confess our hardened and callous attitudes because of past wounds, offenses, and experiences.  We ask for healing that we may celebrate our great God and walk in His divine light!

Psalm 85:6, “Won’t you revive us again, so your people can rejoice in you?”

JUNE 8 – MERCY ON THE CHURCH

We humble ourselves before God and confess that the Body of Christ has become lethargic, distracted and disobedient to the revealed truth within the word of God.  We repent on behalf of the church and cry out for God’s mercy upon us.

Nehemiah 1:6-7, “Listen to my prayer! Look down and see me praying night and day for your people Israel. I confess that we have sinned against you. Yes, even my own family and I have sinned! We have sinned terribly by not obeying the commands, decrees, and regulations that you gave us through your servant Moses.”

JUNE 9 – MERCY ON THE NATION

We ask the Lord to show His mercy upon our nations and the nations of the earth.  We call upon Him to reveal His holiness, glory, majesty, and awesome power to His people and through His people.  As God moved in the past, we ask Him to move again!

Habakkuk 3:2, “O LORD, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.”

JUNE 10 – UNITY

We pray for God to unite the Body of Christ.  We confess our divisions and separations. Let us humble ourselves and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal our desperate need for one another.

John 17:20-21, “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”

JUNE 11 – BREAKING BARRIERS

We pray for barriers of separation to be broken down in the body of Christ and for willingness to work together for the purposes of God.  Through the help of the Holy Spirit, we will encourage, support, and intercede for one another so that the glory of God may be revealed through the earth.

John 17:22-23, “And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”

JUNE 12 – HUMBLE LEADERS

We pray for the leaders of our communities and our nations.  We ask for humility and that their hearts would turn towards God.  We pray that they would be men and women of integrity and that God’s purposes would be accomplished through them.

Proverbs 28:2, “When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability.”

JUNE 13 – WORD OF GOD

We pray that the Word of God will be given its rightful place as the foundation for lives, homes, and communities.  May God’s Word be our standard for moral values and behaviors.  We acknowledge our need for the scripture to be read daily, understood, believed, and obeyed.

Psalm 119:126, “It is time for you to act, LORD; your law is being broken.”

JUNE 14 – DEVOTION

We pray for the hearts of people to be stirred to once again devote themselves to God and desire to live in obedience.  We desire that God’s priorities will become our priorities.

Isaiah 30:21, “Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go,’ whether to the right or to the left. Then you will destroy all your silver idols and your precious gold images. You will throw them out like filthy rags, saying to them, ‘Good riddance!’”

JUNE 15 – FEAR OF THE LORD

We ask God to permeate all followers of Christ with the fear of the Lord.  Holy reverence is the foundation of wisdom and knowledge working in our lives and causes a hatred of evil and injustice.

Proverbs 8:13, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate.”

JUNE 16 – EVERYDAY MISSIONARIES

We pray that God would activate and empower people to be missionaries in their part of the earth.  May all followers of Christ have the realization that they are to embrace the mandate of Jesus: go into the world, live out the gospel, and make disciples!

Matthew 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”

JUNE 17 – COMPASSION

We ask God to awaken our hearts to the needs of others.  Pure religion is to be an extension of God’s mercy and grace to those who are helpless and hopeless.  Through the compassion of the Spirit of God, we display the love of Christ.

James 1:27, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”

JUNE 18 – AWAKEN HEARTS

We pray for a great spiritual awakening to come upon those who are not followers of Christ.  It is God’s will for all people to know Him and repent!  Ask the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of the people in our lives to see their need for Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

JUNE 19 – OPEN DOORS

We ask God to make us aware of opportunities to share and demonstrate the love of God.  Pray for conversations and encounters to take place that will allow Jesus Christ to be revealed and glorified.  We pray for open doors of faith!

Acts 14:27, “Now when they had come and gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.”

JUNE 20 – INTERFERENCE

We ask God to make us aware of demonic interference that would try to influence and hinder the purposes of God on the earth.  Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the spirit that is beyond words, actions, and thoughts. May He direct us in how to remove the interference through the Word of God and the power of the Spirit.

Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

JUNE 21 – CONTINUE ON

We ask God to give us the strength to continue following Him.  We must be persistent if prayer, obey His Word, and follow the guidance of the Spirit.  Pray that the Holy Spirit would give us tenacity and holy boldness each day.

Acts 4:29, “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”
